At Chhajed Lung Care and Sleep Centre, we offer adult vaccination services to protect against respiratory infections and other preventable diseases. Vaccination is especially important for adults with chronic lung disease (COPD, asthma, ILD), older adults, and anyone with a weakened immune system — groups more likely to develop serious complications from these infections.
We currently offer:
- Influenza (Flu) Vaccine
- Pneumococcal Vaccine
- Shingrix (Shingles) Vaccine
Influenza Vaccine
What it protects against: Seasonal flu, which can lead to pneumonia and hospitalization in people with existing lung disease, heart disease, or diabetes.
Who should get it:
- Adults with chronic lung disease (COPD, asthma, ILD), heart disease, diabetes, or a weakened immune system — regardless of age
- Adults aged 50 and above
- Pregnant women
- Healthcare workers
Pneumococcal Vaccine
What it protects against: Pneumococcal disease, including pneumonia, bloodstream infections, and meningitis caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae.
Who should get it:
- Adults aged 50 and above
- Adults under 50 with chronic lung disease, heart disease, diabetes, or a weakened immune system
- Smokers
Shingrix (Shingles) Vaccine
What it protects against: Shingles (herpes zoster) and its most painful complication, postherpetic neuralgia — nerve pain that can last months after the rash clears. Shingles is a significant health concern in India. About 1 in 3 people in India will develop shingles in their lifetime, and roughly 150–260 million Indians aged 50 and above are at risk each year.
Who should get it:
- Adults aged 50 and above — this is the approved indication for Shingrix in India, regardless of whether you remember having had chickenpox or a prior episode of shingles
